I have used the acculap synthetic from Salem Distributing.
Very clean, channels nicely. Smells to me sort of sweet.
Polish comparable to pitch, so far I have only tried out the medium 
hardness.
They have a nice range of hardness comparable to pitch.
Will be interesting to know if silicon will give you any decent test.
Try it, thats how you can learn what works and what doesn't.
