You will be entering experimental territory, whether you like it or not ;-)

The exact distribution of loads will matter very little unless you take 
effective measures to make sure to avoid friction forces (or similar forces) 
acting in undesired directions - in particular out of the plane of the 
mirror. Teflon pieces or similar against a rough glass edge won't make it, 
of course. With a sturdy wire cable (inside a low-friction sheath), at least 
you know it is strong enough by a very large margin...

More specifically, as you say "The saw is ready to hit the metal", what have 
you in mind?

If you solve the friction problem, using symmetric wiffletrees supporting at 
+-22.5 and 67.5 deg will give you a load distribution somewhere between the 
2-point +-45 deg support and the (somewhat better) 180 deg sling - there 
seems no reason to expect there is a significantly better 4-point 
whiffletree solution to be found.
