Good question. If your goal is simply to baffle, then it should be about 
the same size as the mirror. In the Obsession design you have to have 
clearance to get your hands and tools in there as well sometimes, to 
adjust the sling, etc.

On my 13" I made the top of the mirror box open, and I have a friction 
fit baffle with a hole just larger than the mirror. If I need to get in 
the box, I pull off the baffle.
