Re: [ATM] Shutting Down the Night Sky
Friends;
It is easy to continue this thread ad infinitum, please continue more
pleasing activity, like building telescopes and looking at the nights
sky. Do you all know what the greatest funding mechanism in science is
today? The sky is falling , and please give me a billion pounds
sterling, and I'll prove it. In our short walk on the planet, we have
seen many "fads". I would suggest, that science is not an opinion but a
collection of the best evidence. Who funds the evidence? In the 1970's
we were presented with evidence, that soon we are going to freeze in
the dark, (Limits to Growth, The Population Bomb, Erhlich et. al.)
Frozen knickers yet? What happens when all the dinosaur blood is
converted to living plants; (there is no lethal dose to CO2 in the green
world), in the green realm. I do enjoy Kew Gardens. How many green
stems are there now in the permafrost, the deserts, and the Arctic
regions, that never existed heretofore? I shudder and laugh when I see
50 pound silver, carbon taxes, on air flights to visit London. The great
money grab of our times ( I would like a modest 1% VAT that goes to my
recently created institute, and I will tell tell you anything you want
to hear).
Millions voted for Stalinism, National Socialism, Moaism, and the like.
Winston Churchill was revered and cast asunder, what is the legacy of
Neville Chamberlain?
At the time of Galileo, he was a decided minority, If a vote was taken
then, the earth would be the center of the Cosmos.
Americans are "strange" cousins, we like to get in our trucks (small
lorrys) with our 1/2 meter and bigger telescopes, and drive 500 miles and
back, to observe the beauty of the night skies. We also like to tee up
golf balls on the moon. Forgive me but what is the CPU chip in your
machine,( AMD Intel) you logon to the net with?
Help me, what does Kyoto say about China , Indonesia, India and the
rest? The US and Austrailia are not "Bonnie and Clyde". IMHO the sky
is not falling.
Lets build telescopes and take any and further discussion off list.
Please lets take it off list, thank you!
Warm Regards
Jeff Rowe
