easy, till you get so big you can't lift the thing.

I just roll a piece of 4 inch flashing (thin aluminum) into the desired diameter, use hot-melt glue to hold it together and place it on the ground mirror surface and put in the plaster. Any that runs under the flashing will harden fairly quickly and will break off easily leaving a fine tool base. The flashing can be "unrolled" for use again later.
