I recently scored a bumch of 3/4" thick glass from some end
tables (26" square tops and 22"x22" square plus 11"x22" piieces)
from a guy that was throwing them out.  These pieces were all
nicely annealed glass and with a bit of trepanning, have made
osme nice blanks.  You're not going to be doing a really large
mirror but 18" is not all that bad if you don't use a really
short FL for the mirror.  One piece is 14" and is being done to a
F4.6 FL which has a .25" sag and that is about as deep as I'd go
for myself.
