Now THAT sounds like an opportunity!!  Anyone have ideas about a
lightweight material, about 8-10 ft in diameter that could be laid down
under our telescopes?? 

The main problem at public events is the chance that someone would trip
over the edge and take you to court.  You would have to have a way of
securing the edge firmly to the ground so the chance of a fall is
minimized.
