[ATM] ATM-Could use some Flocking advice

I'm about to install some flocking inside a 6 foot long tube that is only 9
inches Dia.
This particular brand has no adhesive, but you use contact cement in order
to allow
positioning for a short time.

My question is recommended ways of keeping pressure on the material while
the
glue sets up. Could I  use a larger diameter piece of sonotube and cut a
section out
so that it could compress and slide into the tube, thus allowing the
springiness of the
sonotube to do the work when I released the compression?
