As far as focusing etc the thickness of the lens is not a factor. The lens
material does, however, attenuate the light wave slightly such that the
intensity of the light wave is decreased a bit more for a thicker lense of
the same material.  This loss is probably to low to even measure with very
sensitive equipment and would be undetected by the eye.

final image in anyway? meaning thin lens would give
the same image as a comparatively thick lens?
