[ATM] dump diving


    Dear List,
    I recently came across an interesting find.In one of the many
barrels at our local 'hardware store' aka metal reclaim I found some
2-3' of 1/2" dia. brass pinion stock.At first I passed it off as some
ornamental material.Along with that was a couple of brass tubes,heavy
wall that have the racks soldered on to the tubes.The pinion stock is a
dead match.It looks like someone was making optical parts.Strange for up
in the mountains huh.Any chance I get to go over that way always turns
up something unusual.I guess I could chop up the pinion stock.The tubes
measure 1.125 I.D. Sound familiar.I'll keep you posted if some more
stuff shows up...like the Hope Diamond!
