I got to thinking that a simple iron tool could be made by stacking and
welding thin iron disks, of a reducing diameter, up to the required
sagitta thickness.  I have placed a crude drawing at ..

Another source, depending on the curve needed, could be the bottom of an
old cast iron frying pan.  I think the ring is still simpler.
