Re: [ATM] glue
One thing you might try with the gorilla glue is "woodpeckering" the plastic
before gluing. Also, wet one surface and apply the glue to the other
surface. The gorilla glue will foam and expand during the curing process (3
hours) so the parts must be held tightly together. The water on one surface
will accelerate the curing process of the glue, as the water acts as a
catalyst in the polymerization reaction. Woodpeckering (creating many tiny
holes for the glue to expand through) will effectively create polymer rivets
through the plastic. This technique is used extensively when using gorilla
glue to make plastic model airplanes. The resultant joints are VERY strong.
CA (cyano acrylate, or super glues) can also be very strong, but you must
fight the urge to apply too much glue. Very small dots are the order of the
day. Also, wash both surfaces immediately before applying the glue. After
you wipe the surfaces dry, there is a small layer of adhered water molecules
on the surface. The CA glue chemically bonds these water molecules to the
two surfaces. To thick a layer of the CA glue, and ANY motion between the
two surfaces after initial contact and before curing (approximately 30
seconds) will interfere with this bond, resulting in a very weak joint.
Again, CA glues are very popular with model airplane builders when properly
applied.
One final glue you might try is the PVC Pipe cement. Cure times are a
little longer, but if you properly clean and prime the surfaces, then hold
them fast for the duration of the cure time, you should end up with a very
durable bond.

Subject: [ATM] glue
I am trying to build a wind protector for outdoor observation using PV tubes
and 4mil clear plastic sheets, and having problem to glue the plastic.
Gorilla glue, elmar's glue and guct tape are no good . Could any body
suggest the glue which might work. Krish
