RE: [ATM] Is Ebony Star a Kind of Formica ?
Try taking a piece of teflon to your supply store, and try rubbing it on
a variety of laminate surfaces. Some will feel not as sticky as others.
I even tried different flooring materials. Some of them have a bumpy or
grainy texure that works well too. I found some hard floor vinyl tiles
that had a bumpy texture that worked very well for the base-board of my
10 inch dob.
I could not find Ebony star anywhere, then by accident I found a shop 2
doors away from my Job that has it available in half sheets.
Next time I rebuild my scope, I will probably change it out.
Mike.

Textured formica/wilsonart laminate is great, but
ordinary formica of any color or texture (or lack
thereof) will work better than an old 33 1/3 RPM LP. I
just used whatever Formica was available on my 2 small
dobs, and they work fine.
Good luck.
