RE: [ATM] Is Ebony Star a Kind of Formica ?
If I were a mason I would think of a basaltic rock with small flecks of
feldspar (pale blue or green) or the Galaxy which is the same fine grained
basalt with flecks of gold feldspar crystals that make it look like the
evening sky when the sun strikes it. Arborite is just as good. I think for a
bearing material I would stay with the plain colors.

Subject: [ATM] Is Ebony Star a Kind of Formica ?
I have read in many ATM article found in the internet that most ATMer use
ebony Star for the ground board and bearing surface which comes in contact
with Teflon. In my country I have not seen ebony star. Is it a kind of
Formica ? I search our Formica supplier at my place they have not even
heard of it.
Is there any substitute for this kind of material ? I understand that old
records can be use, but it kind of spoilt the look. Can anyone out there
help?
Regards
