Doing the best you can with the materials at hand is usually referred to a
resourcefulness. Emasculating someone on the list for asking what appears to
be a silly question will only turn people away for fear of being ostracised.
Remember how much you knew when you started out with a dream to build a big
telescope so you could watch the moon landing and hadn't read about Lord
Rayleigh's calculations not that you could understand the mathematics
anyway. I make it a practice to answer every query politely and point the
person in the proper direction if they are thinking of something bizarre.
    When you think of the three or four million people burning wood in their
unnecessary fireplaces for ambience zMatt's idea isn't as wasteful as it
sounds, and if he needs a few tips, I'll gladly give him a hand.
