Hi Everyone,
Judging from the responses, melting glass in a huge fire is probably doable
but not really feasible given my limited resources for the project.   By the
time I build the necessary foundry style container, the blowers, the
temperature controllers, etc., I will have invested more money in the glass
than it would be worth.
Given the price of firewood in Houston, at about $90 rick, I could cut it
into firewood and sell it.  There are at least 100 ricks of firewood in that
pile of wood, considering there are at least 30 big trees in the pile,
mostly oak. However I will die of old age before I can cut up and split that
much wood. It is also much to dry to be good firewood.  Most of it was cut
over five years ago.
