[ATM] re: Glass Blank
Hi Jerry:
It is not so much of a container problem as it is a furnace problem.
There are several stainless steels which will stand up to the 1400 degree C
required for a glass mould. There are a lot of Alumina bricks that will too.
The big problem is using as much of the heat available from burning the
wood.
Using the heat contained in the flue gases to pre-heat the combustion
air on a continuing basis requires a special furnace. You should read up on
reverberatory furnace design for starters. Efficient combustion is a science
in itself.
A large mirror was made this way and photos were posted to the list a
while back. It is a doable undertaking, but it represents a considerable
amount of work.
Check the EULA on the beer bottle label to see if you are allowed to do
this with the "empties"
