[ATM] Spider Design and Vibration
Hi,
I've been drafting out different 3 vane spider configurations, and I am trying to minimize spider vibration for a 3 vane spider. I have seen many designs for 4 vane spiders that basically split the trad design, i.e. radial vanes, giving a view from the top that looks something like this, >0<, where > and < are the 2 sets of vanes, and 0 is the axis of the secondary holder. Is there a similar advantage (less vibration) to splitting a 3 radial vane spider, like this >0-? Also, has anyone done this one 0>-? it would seem to be easy to make, although the vanes would be radial, the secondary axis would be off center. The scope will be a dob, so the spider can be aligned in a Y configuration, or even an upside down Y, although Y seems intuitively better.
Also, has anyone had good results using solder to hold the spider together, or did too much tension tear it apart?
Thanks,
Rod
