I did a 12.5 with two motors much less powerfull than that. I think it
was the motor for the table top grinder some years back in S&T.
Remember, these are geared way down. Mine is about a 17 rpm. Polishing
was pretty much at the limit and icecubes to cool it down helped. ;-)
I think the motor I gave Bill Prewit to do his 30 inch was 1/2 hp. I
believe he drove the overarm with that and used a copy machine motor to
turn the platter. You there Bill? I know here I can pick up surplus
1/4 to 1/2 pretty easy. Over that they get harder to find.
