Definetely. And, for the beeswax, you can probably brush it
away from the cold lap with a perfectly CLEAN, non-ferrous 
metal brush (easy to find in you local hardware store).

As you said, otherwise you will probably not be able to get 
the wax off by heating, without ruining your lap. 

Don't throw away you beeswax/pitch mix, its is an excellent
temporary gluing medium ("arcanson" in French), in partiular
to have a pitch lap holding on a bare glass substrate.

Beeswax is great, Honey is sooo good, but don't mess up
with the bees :-)
