[ATM] Re: Maksutov corrector minimum thickness
Minimum thickness of a Maksutov corrector is one that would
efficiently keep its shape. But the thinner it is, the more curved
it needs to be for any given power.
I run Rutten/Venrooij's TDesign for a 20" Mak-Cass (f/4 to f/16 and f/20)
with 1.46 (fused quartz) corrector index. With 1" corrector thickness,
needed radii are around 27" (average), with nearly 2" deep curves.
It would require 5"+ thick blank to make such corrector.
For thicker corrector, radii relax somewhat, but needed blank thickness
doesn't change significantly.
No luck with this one...
