RioGrande <http://www.riogrande.com> has a product called Midas Nickel
Oxidizer, order number 331-051, containing nitric and selenious acid.  One
pint cost $16.40 before hazardous shipping costs.  I've never used it.
It's suppose to produce a matte black.
