That article is a fairly nice one although I'd go with much thicker stock.
I personally use 2x lumber for all the sides which makes it easy to do some
nice dovetails in the wood to make the joint very strong.  3/4" plywood is
usually used for shipping boxes with a screw every 3" or so.  In addition,
the bottoms of the boxes get glued to the sides of the box so that there is
only one way in.
