And... I wonder what would be the point? The original
MMT was tried because a single piece of glass was too
expensive and/or not available. The design proved to
be not worth the trouble so why go back and try
inventing a square wheel again?
WHat is there about the Multiple Mirrors that would
make someone want to do this but the challenge? I
can't think of any positive atributes that all this
trouble would satisfy. There is less light than a
single mirror and less chance of keeping the separate
focal planes aligned in any of the 3 axis (for each
scope or for keeping the focal length the same as
temperature varies... I just don't see the point of
trying this.
So the answer to the guys question would be...
YES! It can be done and was done but wasn't worth the
trouble.
