[ATM] plop and the mirror support

My question exactly a couple months ago. There was a good deal of
discussion about this on the group in either August or September, and the
only person with any real answer was Tom Krajci. He had manipulated  Plop
into plotting many support points surrounding each of the regular support
point locations, if I remenber correctly, and found that a real-world sized
 point did not seem to adversely affect the support. Should be in the ATM
archives.
