I used 6 blops to mount my 10 inch to an aluminuim plate.

This method works great and collimation is maintained after repeated fitting and removal of the mirror assembly during final stages of the telescope's birth.  Even after traveling over gravel roads here in OZ the mirror only needs a tweek of one of the two collimation adjusters.
 
Have no fear... if the surfaces are clean and the blobs are about 20mm dia x 3 thick then your mirror is there for good..
