    I was curious how much attenuation accommodation I should make when
probing bore holes in Uranium deposits. I was using radiometric equipment to
calculate the possible reserves of uranium in the ore body. It was the first
time it was ever done. Previous to that, chemical assay was the only method
of any reliability. In my case we would run into extended lengths of crumbly
"
yellowcake with no resulting core to split and send out to analyse. We were
missing hundreds of feet of core that way and had resorted to using down
hole scintillometers to log the radiation, calculating the ore grade from
those readings.
