RE: [ATM] Entropy OT
I, too, am suffering from CRS (Can't Remember ... uh ... Somethin'), but you
must have one mean centrifuge to separate the Silicon and Borax that well!

While we are on the subject of entropy, here is a problem. I start out
with glass that is 50% silica and 50% borax. By some physical or chemical
process, I end up with two chunks that are respectively 75% silica and 75%
borax. How much entropy have I removed from the system? How might I
compute the energy required to accomplish this, under the laws of
thermodynamics? It has been a long time since I had thermo, but I am just
now starting to get old and.... I forgot...

Hello list
Isn't there a relationship between entropy and the # of dimensions (either
that there are, or that have been discovered).
I'm still trying to understand the 4th dimension. They say that you can use
a poly-cube to visualize it. Where one cube is inside of another cube and
the lines that form planes going between the two cubes are what's in the 4th
dimension if you could see it (represented in 3d). Also a creature in 4d
could easily take their hand and insert it inside of one of us (us being a
3d being), and the moment of insertion would be instantaneous. Meaning that
as the 4d creature moves in that plane (and we can't see that plane) there
would be a single moment where the lines and planes coincide and instantly
the 4d's hand would be inside of us.
Also, do you know how many dimensions there are that scientists have
discovered? (aren't there about 12?)
And why not there be 100 or more And will this lead to time travel or to
traveling from one place to another at speeds much faster than the present
(for example 100,000 miles/hour instead of (17,500 miles/hour -- like the
space shuttle or the ISS or satellites)).
Then there is the idea that you could have two black holes connected
together with a tunnel of stretched gravitational waves. And then if you
allowed yourself to enter one end you would be accelerated into the tunnel
and if you looked backwards you would see yourself as you were leaving. Not
only that, this concept has the potential to send large loads of mass, long
distances, at great speeds. This could be the future of space travel (the
stepping stones: first in our MilkyWay Galaxy and then else where).
Thank you for your help.
David Williams
