ATM Vibration damping
Having seen several comments regarding vibration, I thought I would pass
along this thought:
There are products made for the car stereo industry to damp vibrations.
The big brand name is Dynomat. It is sold in sheets and is about 1/8"
thick and self-adhesive. The stuff is amazing. The demo I saw had two
5" (or so) paint can lids suspended by strings. One was normal and one
had about a postage stamp size piece of Dynomat. If you struck the
normal one, it rang like a bell. The Dynomat one made a dead "thunk"
sound.
I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has used this to damp telescope
or mount vibrations.

Fred Maxwell
