Re: ATM "The New S&T"

Mike:
I've read the recent traffic in this thread with only passing interest,
but your message struck a chord. I especially like #2 -- I think it was a
brief mention in the first S&T article about "Astronomy on the InterNet" that
pointed me here, to the ATM list. It certainly seems to me that "here" is
where it's at.
As far as the new look goes, I'm not crazy about it. The ToC is nice,
but overall it seems a little too glossy, and rather disjointed in design,
now. I get the impression that an attempt is being made at a more
approachable look, with a more broadly-based appeal, but shining it up and
dumbing it down aren't going to get it done. As far as the sprinkling of
left-justified columns goes, I have no idea what that is supposed to achieve.
I think that letting people know about the resources on the 'Net is very
important, and that a two-line posting as you suggest is all that it would
take. This seems a small token that could have some positive results, and
also serve to show some on-going support from Sky Publishing.

Take care,
Peter Augello

 2) Maybe it would be better if they just inserted a brief note like:
For information on constructing your own telescope... (then followed
with info on how to subscribe to this list). They should probably
stick it in with that little goofy section on how to convert your
time zone to UT or what frequencies WWV transmits on!!!
 3) And yeah, they should change the name to Telescope Shopper!

  Feeling rather miffed, aren't I ?? <GRIN>
