Re: ATM Coating Stains
Pete,
What you gave me was the recipe for stripping pure Chromium. I was doing that
way back when I was just a kid :-) ( Really !!!! I grew up around this place &
started coating when I was about 12 years old ! ) I truly appreciate your suggestion,
but it won't work in this case. Thanks for trying to help !
I know what we are dealing with. It is residual Aluminum Oxide. I have seen this
before on commercial optics ( and the occasional telescope mirror) . The Oxide is very
stable & resistant to Acids. The only good solution to the problem is polishi
ng.
The good news is that the Oxide normally exhibits poor adhesion. Polishing should
only take a few minutes. If properly done, the figure is preserved.
It shouldn't be all that difficult. The only problem is, he just ran me through the
shredder with some rather vicious postings. Someone should tell him that stuff doesn't
leave his vendor ( the guy who can help him out ) in a very good frame of mind :-)
I am currently considering the situation. Any solution will be in strict accordance
with my established company policy.
I always enjoy our friendly competition !
Best Regards,
H.C.
