FWIW, I made a tile tool with dental plaster for my 10" and never sealed
it, ground the mirror, put pitch squares on top of the tiles and polished
it and it worked fine. I've sealed my 18.5" tool with polyurethane, but
I've heard polyurethane isn't very good- better to use epoxy. Through 220
grit, no problems...

Apparently dental plaster handles water better than regular plaster! Glad I
got something for the extra bucks I paid!
