[generously snipped]

My complex plan: How about [?] having a thumbscrew [or socket head cap
screw] on top of the adaptor, acting on just the edge of a ball bearing
down low. As you tighten the setscrew, it pushes the ball bearing [or
dowel pin with wedged end] along its little borehole, gripping the
eyepiece. Perhaps the thumbscrew should have a conical end. Perhaps
the setscrew could bear on a steel ball, and push against a nylon ball.
Now that's complex.

Also - a small point - 2 setscrews at 90 degrees are what my guru [Barry
Arnold] recommends.

Larry.

PS: I convert all my eyepieces to 2 inch diameter with Delrin collars,
parfocalizing the group.
