You should hog out the curve with a pipe flange, then make a tile on plaster
tool.  After your mirror is done, you can make a second mirror out of the
plate glass tool.

The ringed grooves are a great advantage in fine grinding.  The fact that
they are centered on the tool is of absolute zero consequence.  Eventually,
you will learn that a "W" shaped stroke will average out any tendency to
form zones.

So worry less, do more.
