I make metals tools with concentric grooves. They are much easier
to machine with the lathe then to mill straight grooves. The tools
seem to work as well.

Saw one of those Newport glass tools at RTMC. It was at
Randy Johnson's mirror making class under the pine trees ( pitch was 
no problem <G>). Nice thick tools.

Another note:
Randy did one great job at RTMC. Hope somebody writes this up for the list
as I am not very good at this sort of thing. He had 6 year olds to
75 years olds pushing glass. I could not believe the interest.
Kudos for Randy on his helpers (most from this list)
