Let me see I have this right Anthony: You're suggesting that we write
Meade (a company not particularly noted for their support of ATMing) to
encourage them to pressure S&T (a magazine that has a record of supporting
ATMing and that is supported by advertisers who cater to the ATM market) to
continue running a department whose continued existence is not clearly
threatened?
Your logic is lost on me.

Perhaps you would consider writing another of S&Ts advertisers. I don't own a Celestron
and have few of their accecories, though I would like to buy a 70's C8 someday, hence, I
believe my plea to them will have less effect, but never the less I will still write them
tonight. In fact I intend to go down the list of advertisers.
I believe, in my letter to Meade, I emphasized the support S&T has given to ATMing over
the years. Perhaps I wasn't plain enough, I'll try to be more blunt in the my other
letters. Thank you for the observation.
I have to contest the threat to ATMing. I hardly consider an article on how to wash your
mirror compairable to the description of the Gregory Maksutov. Further, S&T, when last
it changed its format said plainly that it intended to de-emphasize Telescope in favor of
Sky. In the latest issue they just as clearly state that they will not be running
Telescope Techniques every month.
Perhaps I am wrong in interprating what I see as warning signs. If so, what I and I hope
others do, will only remind advertisers and the magazines of the market opertunity we
represent.
Also, one more thing. Meade has at times been bad mouthed by just about everyone,
perhaps even on occasion, deservedly so. But they are a (the) major advertiser in S&T
and as such have supported a magazine around which most of us rally. I don't, will not,
get into a flame war. Lets try to make this a positive experience. I'm just asking
ATMers to remind the commertial ventures of our presents and the pride we have in S&T.
