I am writing with regards to recent changes in Sky & Telescope, a magazine in which you 
advertise.  Specifically, I am very concerned by what seems to be the abandonment of the 
amateur telescope making community.

I own a Meade 8  catadioptic and I am proud of its performance.  I have made many 
telescopes over the years,  but it is my Meade 8 that goes with me to public star 
parties.

Sky & Telescope's Gleanings for the ATM was my inspiration as a child and as I grew.  
Through it, I learned the attributes and qualities of various telescope designs.  Long 
before I could understand the science published in Sky & Telescope I read Gleanings.  
What I didn't understand in Gleanings I researched and learned.  It was a challenge I 
could master, it built my self confidence, it help make me a scientist.  Without 
Gleanings I might never have pursued my interested in astronomy or bought my Meade 8 and 
its many accessories.

I would like you to contact Sky Publishing and encourage them to increase the content 
associated with amateur telescope making in Sky & Telescope.

I am sure you realize that I have the choice of which manufacturer's products I buy and 
recommend.  I hope I can continue to provide my support to Meade Instruments.
