I am writing to express my disappointment and disapproval of the
abandonment of telescope making in your "New S&T". Perhaps you are not
aware the influence that S&T has had in the past on amateur telescope
making. By changing the name of the department Telescope making to
Telescope techniques, you de-emphasize telescope making to amateur
astronomers. The emphasis appears to now be on how to chose and use
commercial telescopes. Maybe technology has changed. Maybe the internet
is
the place to get telescope making information, however I still subscribe
to
a hardcopy newspaper and have every S&T from 1960. By the way, I keep
those
"Old S&Ts" because they are a knolledge base and resource for telescope
making.
