ATM Qs about Aluminum Tools for first mirror!
Hi fellow ATMs!
Oh, I'm sooo excited, got my first 8" Mirror-Blanks
yesterday! They are made of Duran 50 from Schott.
First I thought about using a tile on plaster tool,
but now I am thinking about an Aluminum tool.
Looking in the archives, I found some information, but still have
questions, as some mails seem to be missing.
My goal is a F/8 mirror.
My questions are:
- Is it wise for a beginner to use a Aluminum tool?
- Is it possible to use a flat tool?
(its only 1.5 mm I have to grind out)
(if not, how to pre-curve the tool without big machinery?)
- What tool-diameter(s) should I use?
- Any questions I forgot to ask?
Thanks in advance,
Malte
