Going through grit too fast.
1/80 of an inch (12.5 thousands) is a bit much to switch to a W. I would use the
corodial until it was within a few thousands, actually a bit over as sphere-izing will
take a bit off. Also, you may not be putting enough force into the process. I find in
watching people working their first mirror that they often treat the glass too gingerly (
a good idea when washing and moving ). Try pressing down a bit more. Lastly, you can
also reuse the #80 mud that falls off to the side. It doesn't last very long (short
wets), but it can help.
Aliens may or may not be involved in the alledged abduction of abrasive to which you have
