Having read the responces to your missing tile question, I have to agree.  Better to 
leave the tile off and remove broken / baddly chipped tile (a source of scratches), they 
will have little effect.

Before I started using an epoxy coating to adhere the tile I tried a variety of glues.  
The one tool I made using Duco cement begain to loose tile at 400.  I gluded them back 
on, but alas not exactly the same way, hence there were high and low spots.  After 2 
hours at 400 (this was for an 8 inch, and it expains why I've never used Duco cement 
again, for anything) most of the low spots on the tool were gone save one toward the 
center.  When I finaly polished and checked the mirror for the first time I had a series 
of rings near the center.  They were gone before I finished polishing out the mirror, so 
it was no big deal, it was just interesting.
