ATM optical design software

HELP!

I have a question, I've been using OVB-32, http://www.ultranet.com/~oweng/ovb.htm off the 
net, which I might add is a really cool piece of software.  But I don't get something.  
How are the coefficients in the aspheric table used to deform the surface?  That is, what 
are they?  Weights for a power seires?  Something else.  I wrote the author/s and got a 
very nice responce suggesting I use OSS to help explain it to myself, but I still don't 
get it.  Can anyone help?  Also, what is the difference bewteen the different types of 
aspherics?
