ATM 8 inch mirror
Thanks to those who responded to my earlyer post about the
mystery mirrors.
I have determined that one has R.C of 32 meters, the other
has an R.C of 3.33 meters.
My next step has been to fabricate a tile tool for the 3.33
mirror. The plaster I used was obtained at a dental office, ( they were
very accommodating).
I am now at the stage where years of experience could only
guide me. What should I aim for for the final focal ratio , how do I test
the shape as it is being ground , ect. and on an on.
The tube I going to use in this scope came from a very expensive roll
of Hercules manufactured aerospace grade carbon fiber that went bad(poof
20000 U.S. dallors gone), it came rolled on a paper tube 51" tall and
12 3/4" wide. The tubes has no wax in it and the wall thickness is 7/16
of on inch. Is this tube to large ?
My personal taste for viewing is deep sky objects.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Nathan Allen
