Thanks Mark.  Like the OP, I am also looking for a spider for my 12.5 inch,
and a wire one sounds interesting now, after reading the discussions.

For the life of me, I couldn't picture your description earlier on, but it
sounded great.  This look quite simple.  A picture's worth a 1000 words.
