Re: [ATM] Astigmatism on thin blanks

You can get square or round 24" annealed non-tempered table-top plate glass
of 3/4 thickness with or without bevel for approximately $100. When you're
just getting started on a project that you don't know anything about, its
daunting to spend a huge amount of money on a pyrex blank that is only
available from a limited number of high priced sources.

I'm looking forward to figuring out a way to make it work (the large thin
glass) by learning something about mirror cells. A book recommended to me by
someone on this list, "Opto-Mechanical Systems Design, Third Edition",
arrived today. I look forward to reading the book and picking up enough
insight to figure out something useful for my mirror cell design that is
simple enough for me to build with my limited wood-working and metal-working
skills. Unfortunately, I'm still stuck at work and haven't laid eyes on it
yet. I'm sure I'll figure something out, eventually.

Ted.
