It goes OT I know, but there's an interesting experiment you can try if you've
got nothing much to do for a couple weeks and don't mind being really sloppy.  

Some time ago (I don't recall any references and it could've been up to twenty
years back) volunteers were fitted with prism glasses that inverted their
visual field.  They wore these 24/7, as I recall.  After a week or two their
visual field spontaneously inverted to become uninverted and they could get
around like usual, a vast improvement.  The kicker of course, is, that when
they took the prism glasses OFF they saw an inverted field for some time (I
don't think it took as long to flip back)!
