Bill,  Bingo!!!  You're starting to think like an ATM.  It will take a few wets to get the tiles in good contact.  If you are going to 120 SiC, working tool on top will probably get you there in the process.  I'd go just a bit longer, 1-2 inches at the RoC, then alternate MOT/TOT for the rest of the fine grinding.
