Re: [ATM] What a wonderful sound!

Wow, thanks Mark. Being a rank tyro, that is exactly the kind of critique I
am looking for. The last thing I want is astigmatism. I've had to live
with that in my eyes for years, and its no fun. I'll look at my video with
new eyes, and see.

Typically, I take between 16 and 20 steps around the barrel. And bear in
mind that the video was a condensed one so that I was demonstrating the
round and round technique vs the back and forth technique I was trying.

With the round and round oval technique, I stand in one spot and do three or
four lighter ciruits around the edge, and then three or four heavier
circuits 1 inch in from the edge, and then two or three heavier circuits
about the center. Then I step to the left and repeat it, all at about the
speed you saw.

With the back and forth movement I start on the left with short strokes,
then do longer ones as I move to the right, ending up on the right with
shorter strokes. Then I go back to the left doing the same thing. I then
take a step to the left and repeat it all.

I'm not sure which is better, or if there are other better ways. The
techniques for hogging the basic shape that I have run across seem kind of
vague to me. From what I have read it's more of a matter of "Do whatever it
takes to get rid of a lot of glass fast", without much detail other than
"rub, rub, rub", or "go get an electric diamond grinder and have at it".
