Yep, the astronomers will be real happy with that! 10% of the
light that a reflector will give for the same size will warm
their cockles a whole lot. Even more, if you want a 7 meter
resolution, you still need to make a 7 meter plate. I'll also
bet that the plate also needs to be accurately located to within
a fraction of a wave of light. In addition, you're passing the
light thru something so the whatever will be affecting the light
just like a lens would.
All in all, something that is neat for doing crude optics with
but not going to be used for astronomical purposes as it is not
going to do the job.
