[ATM] Buehler EcoMet #5, 2 speed grinder polisher

Hello,

This is my first post to the ATM list. I am interested in grinding my
first mirror. Unfortunately, while I think I have the patience to work
the mirror by hand, my time is limited. At work, I have access to a
Buehler EcoMet #5, 2 speed grinder/polisher machine. Here is a picture
of this particular model:

I believe these machines are used to flatten silicon wafers to be used
for integrated circuits. Can it also be used as is for grinding and
polishing a parabolic mirror? If not, can it be modified for this
purpose?
